The
Format

The structure includes theory and lecture based interactive sessions, small group activities, hands-on practical experience, field trips, and guest speakers who provide information relating to community resources available to early childhood programs.

The Curriculum

This Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services approved curriculum has been designed to fulfill the Continuing Education Requirements for those individuals seeking to qualify as Child Care Center Directors under Section  (746.1015 A-7) September 2003, of the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services’ Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.

This course in it’s entirety grants thirty four (34) C.E.U.’s and is comprised of two (2) parts: Business Management for Child Care Centers and Management of Early Childhood Development Programs.

Part I

The Business Management Component includes:

T.D.P.R.S. Minimum Standards
The development of a plan of operation
The development of a business plan and budget
Marketing the facility and increasing enrollment
Time management
Staff recruitment, motivation, and supervision.
Health and safety
Facility requirements for indoor and outdoor activities

Part II

The Management of the Early Childhood Development Program Component includes:

Principles of early childhood development
The application of principles of early childhood development in the management of facilities
Curriculum development
The use of conferences as a communication tool with staff, children, and parents
Field trip planning
Cultural enrichment programs
After-school programs

The Instructors

The course will be taught by Early Childhood Development Specialists and other professional support staff with business and program management experience in child care.

State Requirements

In order too qualify as a director with Child Care Council’s Director Certification Course one must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Have three years experience working in a licensed child care center as a director or a staff member.

Cost

The basic fee for the course is $900.00. This includes the class textbook and all handout materials.

Enrollment

Please mail in the enrollment form with a minimum non refundable $300.00 down payment.  The balance of $600.00 can be made in payments, $300.00 due four weeks after the start date of the class and the balance $300.00 due eight weeks after the start of the class. Register early as class fills up quickly. If minimum enrollment of 7 people (with $300.00 down payment) is not met one week prior to the first class date, the class will not be held. All enrollments for the cancelled class will be transferred to another class.
